Video Editing Trainer & Production Development Lead

Job Description

Flixor is looking for an experienced, creative, and dynamic video editing trainer & production development Lead to join our video production and training team.

The ideal candidate should have strong practical expertise in video editing, motion graphics, creative production, team development, and professional training, along with the ability to mentor existing video editors and train aspiring professionals.

This role is ideal for someone who can take responsibility for the skill development, work quality, performance, and professional growth of the in-house Video Editing Team while also serving as a key trainer for Flixor’s Video Editing Training Program.

The selected candidate will work closely with the production team to identify skill gaps, improve editing quality, introduce modern editing techniques and workflows, and provide continuous mentorship. In addition, the candidate will conduct practical training sessions for academy students and help them develop the skills required to become industry-ready video editors.

Candidates with previous experience in video editing, training, mentoring, team development, and modern post-production workflows will be highly preferred.

Your Role

As a video editing trainer & production development lead, you will be responsible for improving the technical and creative capabilities of the in-house video editing team while conducting professional video editing training for academy students.

You will work closely with the production team to review work quality, identify skill gaps, provide feedback, develop individual improvement plans, and introduce better editing techniques and workflows.

At the same time, you will conduct practical training sessions, mentor learners, and help build a structured learning environment focused on real-world video production.

Production Team Development

• Monitor the quality and overall development of the in-house video editing team
• Review editors' work and provide constructive, actionable feedback
• Identify individual skill gaps and recommend appropriate development plans
• Monitor the technical and creative improvement of team members
• Guide editors on improving editing quality, storytelling, pacing, visual flow, and audience engagement
• Identify areas where team members need additional training or support
• Conduct regular skill-development sessions and practical workshops for the production team
• Help editors improve their editing speed, workflow efficiency, and problem-solving abilities
• Encourage knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team
• Track progress and provide recommendations regarding individual professional development
• Help establish consistent editing standards and best practices across the team

Training & Mentorship

• Conduct structured video editing training programs for academy students
• Conduct practical classes, workshops, and mentoring sessions
• Develop and update lesson plans, practical assignments, exercises, and assessments
• Teach professional video editing techniques and workflows
• Train students in storytelling, pacing, sequencing, visual composition, and audience retention
• Teach practical approaches to editing for YouTube, social media, and digital media content
• Review students' projects and provide constructive feedback
• Monitor learner progress and identify areas for improvement
• Provide individual guidance and mentorship when required
• Help students build practical skills and become industry-ready video editors
• Continuously improve the training program based on learner performance and industry requirements

Video Editing & Creative Development

• Provide practical guidance on professional video editing and post-production
• Teach and demonstrate advanced editing techniques
• Guide editors and learners in creating engaging and visually effective content
• Provide training on color correction, color grading, sound editing, transitions, effects, and visual storytelling
• Guide team members on improving pacing, hooks, sequencing, and overall storytelling
• Maintain professional editing and post-production standards
• Review completed work and identify opportunities for technical and creative improvement

Software & Technical Training

• Provide hands-on training in Adobe Premiere Pro
• Teach Adobe After Effects and motion graphics workflows
• Provide guidance on Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator when relevant to video production
• Introduce relevant plugins, templates, presets, and professional editing resources
• Introduce the team and learners to relevant AI-powered video editing and production tools
• Teach efficient editing workflows and productivity techniques
• Stay updated with the latest software, technologies, plugins, and industry practices

Production Development & Workflow Improvement

• Evaluate existing editing workflows and identify opportunities for improvement
• Develop and recommend standardized editing workflows, templates, presets, and production practices
• Help improve the team's editing efficiency and output quality
• Identify production bottlenecks related to post-production and recommend solutions
• Improve project organization, file management, and asset-handling practices
• Encourage the use of efficient tools and modern technologies within the editing workflow
• Continuously evaluate and improve the team's post-production processes

AI & Modern Editing Workflows

• Introduce relevant AI-powered tools and technologies to the production and training environment
• Demonstrate practical AI-assisted workflows that can improve editing efficiency
• Explore new tools, plugins, and technologies relevant to modern video production
• Train team members and learners on appropriate use of emerging technologies
• Ensure AI-assisted workflows maintain professional quality, accuracy, and creative standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in media, film, multimedia, graphic design, communication, or a related field preferred
• Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in video editing, video production, or post-production
• Previous experience as a video editing trainer, video editor, creative lead, production lead, team mentor, or similar role will be highly preferred
• Strong practical knowledge of video editing and motion graphics
• Demonstrated experience in mentoring, training, or developing creative professionals will be an advantage
• Candidates with a strong professional portfolio/showreel will receive priority consideration

Required Skills
