About the Role

We are looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer who cares about the details users notice and the problems they should never have to face. As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer at Nextjobz, you will help ensure that our candidate, employer, and internal products are reliable, accurate, secure, and easy to use. This is a hands-on role combining strong manual testing with practical test automation. You will work closely with product, designers, developers, and other stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle, from reviewing requirements to validating releases in production. You will help us automate critical test scenarios and continuously improve our overall quality process.

Responsibilities

• Review product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and designs to identify gaps before development begins.
• Prepare and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test cases, checklists, and test data.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, system, usability, exploratory, responsive, and cross-browser testing.
• Test web applications, APIs, databases, and end-to-end user journeys.
• Build and maintain automated tests for critical workflows.
• Validate REST APIs using Postman or similar tools.
• Verify application data using SQL queries and database checks.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects with clear reproduction steps, supporting evidence, severity, and expected results.
• Collaborate with developers to investigate issues and verify fixes.
• Perform smoke testing, release validation, and post-release production checks.
• Identify edge cases, business-rule conflicts, and potential user-experience problems.
• Monitor recurring defects and recommend improvements to prevent them.
• Help increase automation coverage and improve release confidence.
• Contribute to basic performance, security, accessibility, and compatibility testing.
• Represent the user’s perspective during product and technical discussions.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance or Software Testing.
• Strong understanding of testing principles, QA processes, and the software development lifecycle.
• Solid experience with manual testing of web-based products.
• Practical experience with functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and usability testing.
• Hands-on experience with at least one automation framework, such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress.
• Experience testing REST APIs using Postman or an equivalent tool.
• Working knowledge of SQL and database validation.
• Ability to write clear, structured, and maintainable test cases.
• Ability to report bugs with precise reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
• Understanding of Agile or Scrum-based product development.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to take ownership while collaborating effectively with a cross-functional team.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, Java, or another automation-friendly programming language.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with performance-testing tools such as JMeter or k6.
• Basic understanding of application security and accessibility testing.
• Experience testing AI-powered features, matching systems, SaaS platforms, marketplaces, or recruitment products.
• Familiarity with GitLab, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
• Experience testing mobile-responsive products across different devices and browsers.
