Mission 

Our equities research team has built and validated a quantitative prediction model (Python) covering 20 refinery stocks, already used in live customer demonstrations. The contractors own the engineering build that takes it to production and first customer delivery within roughly one quarter: containerising the model, a massively parallel Kubernetes batch layer (daily runs plus full-history recomputes of ~1,400 parallel jobs), Airflow orchestration, warehouse schemas and idempotent merge pipelines (Snowflake), streaming delivery into the warehouse (Kafka Connect / Kafka Streams), a customer-facing FastAPI REST service with OpenAPI spec generation, entitlements enforcement (row-level, sales-configurable), an Excel add-in, CSV export, CI/CD, and production monitoring. The research code is finished and tested, and there is a written target architecture reviewed by our chief architect - this is a high-ownership platform-and-product build, not a discovery project, but the engineers will help settle real design decisions (e.g. primary store choice) rather than execute a fully frozen spec.

Role Summary 

We are looking for a Software Engineer to serve as the primary owner for API and customer delivery. You will work directly with the research lead, the chief architect, and product/sales teams without an intermediating delivery manager. The research code is finished, and you will be responsible for bringing the customer-facing layer to life, defining the API contract, enforcing entitlements, and ensuring seamless delivery to our end users.

Key Responsibilities 

You will primarily be responsible for:

• Act as the primary owner of the customer-facing FastAPI REST service.
• Handle OpenAPI generation, API authentication, and versioning.
• Enforce API entitlements via API-key lookup over row-level warehouse policies, including a sales-configurable admin path.
• Develop an Excel add-in (Office Add-in) that calls the REST API.
• Build CSV export functionalities and manage release-notes/changelog mechanisms.
• Define and own the API contract consumed by the Terminal frontend team.

Must-Have Qualifications 

You should have demonstrable experience in all of the following:

• Senior-level, recent production Python experience, particularly within the last two years.
• Deep experience with a cloud data warehouse, with Snowflake strongly preferred.
• Experience with schema design, staging, merge/upsert patterns, and idempotent processing.
• Production experience with Kubernetes and Docker, including batch or parallel workloads.
• Experience handling production job failures, retries, and recovery.
• Experience delivering customer-facing REST APIs, preferably with FastAPI.
• Strong understanding of authentication, API versioning, and OpenAPI documentation.
• Personal experience setting up and operating production orchestration, monitoring, alerting, CI/CD, and secrets management.
• Experience owning an end-to-end production build as a primary or sole engineer.
• Experience working directly with non-engineering stakeholders.
• Strong ownership, independent decision-making, and practical problem-solving ability.

Nice-to-Haves 

The following would strengthen your profile:

• Excel add-in (Office Add-ins) or Power Query development is a strong differentiator for this seat.
• Experience with row/column-level entitlements or fine-grained authorization systems.
• Experience with Plotly Dash or similar for reading/porting our reference implementation.
• MCP (Model Context Protocol) or LLM-agent tooling exposure.
• Experience using PostgreSQL as a primary operational store behind a product.
• Financial markets or market-data experience (point-in-time data, earnings calendars).
