LafargeHolcim Bangladesh operates the only integrated cement plant in Bangladesh. It is the only cement company that has access to key raw material resource (limestone) required for the manufacturing of clinker. Limestone is transferred via unique 17km long international cross border single conveyer belt that is an engineering marvel in itself. It also has world class grinding stations located at Dhaka and Mongla that produce cement of the finest quality.

JOB CONTEXT

SUMMARY OF THE JOB

• To lead the shift production staff, ensuring smooth and trouble free operation of the plant.
• Overall responsible for the plant personnel and equipments safety during back shift hours and on holidays.
• To coordinate with the service departments for any related jobs during operation and also during stoppage of the plant.
• To achieve effective utilisation of the shift personnel and equipments in shifts.

MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

• To guide the CCR operators, Patrollers to decide the priority of jobs and to attend to the emergency situations involving production loss and minimizing down time.
• Coordination with Maintenance and QA departments in backshift hours.
• Shift Engineer has to take the lead initiative and do the necessary preliminary actions in case of emergencies like accidents, fire, theft, quarrel, pollution problems etc.
• To give the necessary inputs and to do analysis of incident stoppages to reduce the downtime.
• To observe the operational parameters, review operators/patrollers actions during the shift and give feedback to them to achieve smooth operation.

To ensure the quality of the in products and finished products in the shift as per LSC’s standards.

• Responsible for the shift coordination and optimum production during shifts
• Responsible for ensuring Quality of in process and finished products in shift.
• Responsible for the safety of shift personnel and equipments in his shift.

Resources

• Number of people managed: 8 (Indirectly, refer to org. chart for clarity) and 30 number contractor manpower
• Statistics (volume, tonnage, number of customers): Performance factor of kiln, Operational reliability

Issues

• All the production staff is beginners to an integrated cement plant and they need complete training including the position holders of this position.
