Senior Software Engineer — Backend (Python / FastAPI)

US-Bangla Airlines is expanding its Software Division and looking for skilled developers to build our in-house ERP, Reservations and Flight Operations platforms.

About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will own the design and delivery of critical HRIS services built on Python & FastAPI. You will make architectural decisions, set engineering standards, and mentor mid- and junior-level engineers while shipping reliable, secure, and scalable APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services and REST APIs using FastAPI and Python.
• Architect scalable and secure solutions for core HRIS modules (employee data, payroll, attendance, leave, performance).
• Lead technical design discussions, define API contracts, and own end-to-end service architecture.
• Design efficient data models and optimize PostgreSQL queries for large, multi-tenant datasets.
• Enforce data security, privacy, and access control (RBAC, audit logging) across the platform.
• Build integrations with third-party systems (payroll providers, biometric/attendance devices, SSO/identity providers).
• Establish and uphold best practices in testing, CI/CD, observability, and code review.
• Mentor and technically guide mid and junior engineers.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong expertise in Python and FastAPI (experience with Flask/Django is acceptable with willingness to work in FastAPI).
• Deep knowledge of SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, and async programming (asyncio).
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL — schema design, indexing, query optimization.
• Strong understanding of REST API design, authentication/authorization (JWT, OAuth2), and security best practices.
• Experience with Redis, background job processing (Celery or similar), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with gRPC / Protocol Buffers for efficient service-to-service communication in a microservices architecture.
• Strong testing discipline (pytest) and system design skills.
• Strong focus on performance optimization — profiling, query tuning, caching, and improving API latency and throughput.
• A clean-code practitioner who writes readable, well-structured, maintainable, and well-tested code and champions engineering standards.

Nice to Have

• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
• On-premise deployment capabilities; RDBMS and NoSQL experience.
• Exposure to HR/Payroll domain or other compliance-heavy systems.
• Cloud experience, Kubernetes, and event-driven architecture with message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ) for async workflows.
• Wiling to adopt new tech stack as per project requirements.
