Role Description The Senior Fabric, Trim Sourcing & Costing Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and sourcing fabrics, trims, and accessories from local and international suppliers, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. The specialist collaborates closely with design, merchandising, and production teams to review technical packs, confirm material specifications, and provide accurate costing scenarios for new and existing styles. Day-to-day activities include negotiating prices and terms with vendors, managing supplier relationships, monitoring market trends and material innovations, and maintaining updated databases of costs, lead times, and certifications. The role also involves coordinating sample approvals, resolving material-related issues during production, and supporting continuous improvement in sourcing efficiency and margin optimization.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience in fabric sourcing, trims sourcing, costing, and supplier negotiations within the apparel industry.
• Strong experience working with Chinese fabric suppliers, with previous business travel to China for sourcing, mill visits, trade fairs, or supplier meetings considered a major advantage.
• Strong knowledge of fabric composition, GSM/weight, usable width, finishing, shrinkage, fabric yield, consumption, and wastage and their impact on garment costing.
• Experience sourcing threads, zippers, buttons, elastics, drawstrings, labels, hangtags, polybags, cartons, and other garment trims.
• Ability to prepare detailed BOM, product-level cost sheets, fabric consumption calculations, and full garment cost breakdowns.
• Strong understanding of CMT and FOB costing and the ability to negotiate manufacturing prices with factories.
• Established knowledge/network of fabric, trims, and garment manufacturers/suppliers in China and Bangladesh.
• Ability to evaluate suppliers based on quality, price, MOQ, lead time, reliability, and delivery performance.
• Advanced Excel skills for costing, calculations, quotation comparisons, and procurement tracking.
• Experience with T-shirts, polo shirts, woven shirts, denim, trousers, and shorts is preferred.
• Knowledge of cotton, linen, viscose, polyester, polyamide, and elastane/blended fabrics is an advantage.
• Fluent in English and Bengali.
• Strong commercial, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Willingness to conduct factory visits and international travel.
