The Room Service Attendant / Order Taker to handle in-room dining orders and provide efficient room service to hotel guests. The position is responsible for receiving and accurately recording guest orders, coordinating with the Kitchen and F&B team, delivering orders promptly and professionally, and ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction throughout the service experience.
Responsibilities
- Receive room service orders by telephone, in person or through the hotel's designated ordering system.
- Answer guest calls promptly and courteously using proper telephone etiquette.
- Clearly communicate the available menus, daily specials, promotions and operating hours to guests.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders, including quantities, preferences, special requests and dietary requirements.
- Confirm the guest's name, room number, order details and preferred delivery time.
- Enter orders accurately into the POS / Order Management System and communicate them to the Kitchen.
- Repeat orders to guests to confirm accuracy and avoid misunderstandings.
- Inform guests of estimated preparation and delivery times.
- Coordinate with the Kitchen regarding special requests, allergies, dietary requirements and order modifications.
- Monitor order preparation and follow up on delayed or incomplete orders.
- Prepare room service trays and trolleys according to established hotel standards.
- Check every order carefully before delivery to ensure all items, condiments, cutlery, crockery and beverages are included.
- Deliver food and beverages to guest rooms promptly and professionally.
- Follow proper guestroom entry procedures and respect guest privacy at all times.
- Set up the order in the guest room according to hotel standards when required.
- Explain the order and provide any necessary information to the guest.
- Ensure food and beverages are served at the appropriate temperature and presentation standard.
- Process room charges, cash or card payments according to hotel procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of room service orders and transactions.
- Respond promptly to additional guest requests and coordinate with relevant departments.
- Follow up with guests where required to ensure satisfaction with the service.
- Collect used trays, trolleys, crockery, cutlery and glassware from guest rooms and corridors.
- Ensure corridors and room service areas remain clean and free from used equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of room service equipment, trays and trolleys.
- Experience: At least 1 year
- Education: diploma in hospitality management
