Research/Data Entry/Intelligence Analyst — Part-Time

Salary: 14,500 to 15,000 Bangladeshi Taka (BDT). 

I’m looking for a highly curious, analytical and self-directed Research & Intelligence to support a range of research, data and commercial projects.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys taking an open-ended question, figuring out how to investigate it, finding the relevant information and turning it into something useful.

You will not always be given a detailed process to follow. In many cases, you will be given the objective, and you will need to determine the best way to achieve it.

For example, one current project involves researching vacant and potentially vacant properties within a specific geographic area. This could involve identifying relevant public sources, local authority information, property data, mapping information and other sources, determining what can realistically be obtained, validating the information and producing a structured dataset for further analysis.

Other projects may involve business research, property research, market intelligence, financial research, public datasets or supporting data-analysis projects.

• Conduct independent online and desk-based research.
• Break broad or ambiguous questions into manageable research tasks.
• Identify relevant and credible information sources.
• Investigate information across websites, public datasets, reports, documents and other sources.
• Collect, clean and structure research findings.
• Build and maintain datasets using Excel, Google Sheets or similar tools.
• Validate information and identify inconsistencies or gaps.
• Analyse information and identify useful patterns or insights.
• Produce concise research summaries and recommendations.
• Clearly document your methodology, assumptions and sources.
• Investigate alternative approaches when your initial approach doesn't work.
• Work with me to develop research projects from an initial idea into a structured output.
• Where appropriate, identify opportunities to automate or improve the research process.

The most important requirement is how you think, rather than a specific degree or job title.

I’m looking for someone who is:

• Highly curious — naturally wants to understand how things work.
• Resourceful — can find alternative ways forward when the obvious route doesn't work.
• Independent — doesn't require constant instructions or supervision.
• Analytical — can distinguish useful information from noise.
• Comfortable with ambiguity — can start working even when the problem isn't perfectly defined.
• Detail-oriented — understands the importance of accurate research and source validation.
• Commercially minded — thinks about how information can actually be used to make decisions.
• A strong communicator — can explain what they found, what they couldn't find and what they recommend doing next.

If I say:

“I need you to find X.”

I don't want someone who immediately asks:

“Which website should I use?”

I want someone who thinks:

“What information do we actually need? Where could it exist? What sources might contain it? How reliable are those sources? If I can't obtain it directly, what alternatives are available?”

That distinction is extremely important for this role.

• Good Excel / Google Sheets skills.
• Ability to independently research unfamiliar subjects.
• Ability to work with incomplete, inconsistent or messy information.
• Ability to present findings clearly and concisely.

You do not need all of these, but experience with any of the following would be useful:

• Data analysis.
• Python.
• SQL.
• Power BI.
• Power Query.
• Web scraping.
• Working with APIs.
• Geographic/location data.
• Property or real-estate research.
• Financial or market research.
• Public-sector datasets.
• Economic or business research.

This role would suit someone who wants exposure to real-world research and analytical projects, rather than simply completing predefined administrative tasks.

You will have the opportunity to:

I’m particularly interested in seeing how you approach problems, rather than simply looking at qualifications.

As part of the selection process, you may be given a short, open-ended research exercise.

You won't necessarily be told exactly where to find the information or exactly how to conduct the research.

I'm interested in seeing whether you can:

2. Develop a sensible research strategy.
3. Find and assess relevant sources.
4. Deal with obstacles independently.
5. Validate your findings.
6. Structure the information clearly.
7. Explain your methodology and assumptions.
8. Identify limitations and suggest next steps.

This probably isn't the right role if you prefer:

• Highly prescriptive instructions.
• A fixed process for every task.
• Being told exactly where to find information.
• Escalating every obstacle rather than investigating it yourself.
• Completing tasks without understanding the underlying objective.

It's a good fit if you enjoy being given a problem rather than a procedure.
