About the Role

WeGro Technologies Limited is seeking a dynamic, result-oriented, and research-driven Research & Development (R&D) Officer to lead the validation, field execution, market development, and scientific dissemination of our next-generation agricultural innovations.

This hybrid role bridges the gap between scientific research, field-level execution, and commercial market extension. You will oversee multi-location field trials, lead farmer-centric demonstration meetings, execute market expansion activities, and translate field data into high-impact reports for the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), regulatory bodies, and international peer-reviewed journals.

Key Responsibilities

Field Validation, Trial Design & Execution:

• Plan, design, coordinate, and execute multi-location field trials, crop validation programs, product demonstrations, and experimental layouts (e.g., RCBD/CRD) across diverse agro-ecological zones in Bangladesh.
• Monitor crop growth performance, score technical parameters, collect soil/crop data, and rigorously evaluate product efficacy under varied field conditions.

Market Development & Field Extension:

• Plan, manage, and execute budgets and field action plans for market development activities to generate demand and expand market share for innovative agri-inputs.
• Organize and facilitate farmer gatherings, field days, technical seminars, dealer/retailer meets, and Demonstration/IFC sessions to disseminate product benefits and modern crop management techniques.
• Implement field-level branding, promotional campaigns, and target-oriented promotional activities for newly launched solutions.

Research Documentation, High-Impact Reports & Publications:

• Collect, analyze, and interpret field data using statistical tools to generate rigorous technical reports and evaluation documents.
• Author high-quality scientific manuscripts and research articles targeting Scopus-indexed or peer-reviewed journals, working towards institutional recognition.
• Prepare technical documentation, trial dossiers, and compliance reports required for approval and alignment with the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and national research institutes.

Stakeholder Management & Ecosystem Coordination:

• Act as a primary technical liaison between WeGro and agricultural universities, research organizations (e.g., BARI, BRRI), government agencies (DAE), field extension workers, lead farmers, and key dealers/distributors.
• Provide technical guidance, product advisory, and crop protection/nutrition support to farmers, dealers, and field teams.

Cross-Functional Team Collaboration & Leadership:

• Coordinate closely with internal sales, marketing, and strategy/business expansion teams to ensure trial outcomes seamlessly feed into commercial go-to-market strategies.
• Conduct technical training, mentoring, and performance evaluation for junior field staff and Assistant Market Development / Field Field Officers (AMDOs/FOs).
• Gather market intelligence, assess competitor products, identify field opportunities, and perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Educational Qualifications & Preferred Profile

• Academic Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture or closely related disciplines (e.g., Soil Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Chemistry) from a reputed university.
• Research & Publication Record: Candidates with hands-on thesis research experience will be prioritized. Applicants holding 1 or 2 publications in Scopus-indexed or high-impact peer-reviewed journals will receive strong preference.
• Practical & Market Experience: Prior practical experience in conducting agri-field trials, technical data collection, or working in market development/technical marketing within a recognized agri-business or research setup.
• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on expertise in experimental designs, data collection methods, statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS, STAR), and formal scientific/technical writing.
• Soft Skills & Work Mindset: Strong communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Must be target-oriented, resilient, and capable of handling pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Field Mobility: High willingness to undertake extensive field visits and reside/travel across rural Bangladesh for hands-on trial monitoring and extension activities.
