Job Summary
The Product Designer – Bags & Accessories is responsible for researching, conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative, trend-driven, and commercially viable bags and fashion accessories aligned with Vibrant's brand identity and target market. The role involves managing the entire product development cycle—from concept creation to production approval—while ensuring quality, functionality, cost efficiency, and timely execution.
Product Design & Development
- Research local and international fashion trends, colors, materials, silhouettes, and consumer preferences.
- Develop seasonal collections for handbags, backpacks, wallets, belts, travel bags, laptop bags, luggage, pouches, and other fashion accessories.
- Prepare design concepts, mood boards, sketches, technical drawings, and product specifications.
- Create innovative products that balance aesthetics, functionality, durability, and commercial appeal.
- Ensure all products align with Vibrant's brand positioning and target customer segments.
- Monitor global fashion trends through online platforms, trade fairs, retail visits, and competitor analysis.
- Analyze competitor products, pricing, materials, and design direction.
- Identify emerging customer preferences and recommend new product opportunities.
- Conduct seasonal market surveys and present findings to management.
- Select suitable materials including PU, leather, fabric, nylon, canvas, microfiber, synthetic materials, and trims.
- Coordinate with suppliers for new materials, hardware, buckles, zippers, linings, labels, and packaging.
- Evaluate material quality, durability, aesthetics, and cost implications.
- Recommend sustainable and environmentally friendly materials where feasible.
- Prepare detailed technical specification sheets (Tech Packs) including:
- Dimensions
- Material specifications
- Construction details
- Stitching specifications
- Hardware details
- Colorways
- Branding placement
- Packaging requirements
- Review prototypes and ensure accurate execution of design intent.
- Coordinate with sample development teams and factories.
- Review prototype samples and recommend necessary design modifications.
- Approve pre-production samples before bulk production.
- Ensure samples meet design, quality, and commercial expectations.
- Work closely with sourcing and merchandising teams to achieve target product costs.
- Suggest alternative materials or construction methods without compromising quality.
- Experience: 3-7 years
- Education: bachelor of science in leather engineering (le)
- Skills: product design, fashion design, product development, fashion industry knowledge, design development, fashion branding, technical design
