Newsroom Editor

We are looking for a responsible, organized, and experienced Newsroom Editor to manage daily newsroom operations, ensure editorial quality, and coordinate fast-paced digital news coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily newsroom operations and assign stories to reporters/correspondents.
• Monitor breaking news, developing stories, press releases, social media, and reliable news sources.
• Edit, rewrite, proofread, and fact-check news reports before publication.
• Ensure accuracy, clarity, balance, journalistic ethics, and editorial standards.
• Write effective headlines, sub-headlines, captions, and digital story introductions.
• Prioritize stories and ensure timely publication of important and breaking news.
• Coordinate with reporters, correspondents, video editors, MoJo, photographers, and social media teams.
• Review and approve website and social media content.
• Monitor competitors and identify trending/important stories.
• Guide junior editorial team members and manage multiple deadlines.
• Ensure content is optimized for SEO and digital audiences.
• Coordinate live updates and continuous coverage of major events when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, English, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant journalism experience, preferably in online/digital media.
• Excellent Bangla writing, editing, and proofreading skills; good English preferred.
• Strong knowledge of national and international current affairs.
• Excellent news judgment, fact-checking, headline-writing, and editorial skills.
• Knowledge of digital journalism, CMS, SEO, and social media publishing.
• Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends/holidays when required.
