- Perform X-ray examinations as per physicians’ requests and departmental protocols while ensuring accurate and high-quality diagnostic images.
- Prepare patients for X-ray procedures by verifying patient identity, examination requirements, clinical history, and relevant safety precautions.
- Operate X-ray and related imaging equipment safely and efficiently, following the manufacturer’s guidelines and hospital protocols.
- Ensure proper patient positioning, exposure selection, and imaging techniques to obtain optimal diagnostic-quality images while minimizing radiation exposure.
- Strictly follow radiation safety principles, including the use of appropriate shielding and adherence to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
- Maintain proper infection prevention and control practices before, during, and after imaging procedures.
- Provide appropriate care, assistance, and communication to patients, particularly elderly, pediatric, emergency, critically ill, and physically challenged patients.
- Perform portable X-ray examinations in ICU, Emergency, OT, wards, and other designated clinical areas when required.
- Verify image quality before releasing examinations and repeat images only when clinically necessary and in accordance with radiation safety standards.
- Upload and correctly identify patient images and examination details in the HIS/RIS/PACS or other designated hospital information systems.
- Maintain accurate records of examinations, patient information, equipment usage, contrast/special procedure requirements, and other relevant departmental documentation.
- Conduct routine checks of X-ray equipment and immediately report equipment malfunction, image-quality issues, or safety hazards to the concerned authority/biomedical engineering team.
- Ensure proper handling and availability of radiographic accessories, protective equipment, consumables, and other departmental supplies.
- Coordinate effectively with Radiologists, Radiology Nurses, Physicians, Emergency, ICU, OT, and other concerned departments to ensure timely delivery of imaging services.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with Apollo Imperial Hospitals’ policies, procedures, professional standards, and ethical requirements.
- Assist in quality assurance and quality control activities of the Radiology & Imaging Department and participate in departmental audits and improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized imaging environment and ensure compliance with hospital occupational health and safety requirements.
- Provide prompt and courteous service to patients and attendants, contributing to a positive patient experience.
- Participate in departmental training, continuing professional development, emergency preparedness, and competency assessment programs.
- Experience: 3-5 years
- Education: diploma in medical technology (radiology)
- Skills: radiology equipment operation, radiology, x-ray equipment operation, radiologic technology, pediatric radiology, medical diagnostics & imaging, radiography, medical imaging, x-ray imaging
