Role Description The Medical Social Worker is a full-time, on-site role based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, responsible for providing psychosocial support to patients and their families within the hospice setting. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing social, emotional, and financial needs; developing care plans; and coordinating social services to enhance patient well-being and continuity of care. The role involves facilitating discharge planning, collaborating with the multidisciplinary care team, and supporting case management to ensure smooth transitions between care settings. The Medical Social Worker will also provide counseling, education, and advocacy, connect families with community resources, and maintain accurate documentation aligned with organizational policies and ethical standards.
Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Medical Social Work and Social Work skills, including psychosocial assessment and care planning.
• Candidates should possess skills in Discharge Planning and Case Management to coordinate services and support safe transitions of care.
• Candidates should possess experience in Social Services, including linking patients and families to community resources and support programs.
• Relevant academic background such as a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field; professional registration or licensure where applicable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural, religious, and socioeconomic diversity, and commitment to ethical, patient-centered care.
• Ability to manage multiple cases, maintain thorough documentation, and handle emotionally challenging situations with resilience and empathy.
• Previous experience in hospice, palliative care, or hospital settings is an advantage.
