Main Role of a Store Manager
The main role of a Store Manager is to manage the company’s inventory and warehouse/store operations efficiently, ensuring that materials and products are properly received, stored, controlled, and issued on time.
- Receiving materials: Check incoming goods against purchase orders, invoices, and delivery documents.
- Inventory control: Maintain accurate stock records and ensure physical stock matches system records.
- Proper storage: Arrange materials systematically and ensure proper identification, labeling, and storage conditions.
- Material issuance: Issue materials to production, maintenance, or other departments against authorized requisitions.
- Stock monitoring: Monitor minimum/maximum stock levels and inform procurement when replenishment is required.
- Stock verification: Conduct regular physical stock counts and investigate discrepancies.
- Documentation: Maintain Goods Received Notes (GRNs), stock registers, bin cards, material issue notes, and other store records.
- Warehouse safety: Ensure cleanliness, security, proper handling, and safe storage of materials.
- Team management: Supervise store personnel and allocate daily responsibilities.
- Coordination: Coordinate with procurement, production, accounts, logistics, and other departments.
- Slow-moving/obsolete stock: Identify and report slow-moving, excess, damaged, or obsolete materials.
- Cost control: Minimize inventory losses, damage, wastage, and unnecessary stockholding.
- Compliance: Ensure store activities follow company policies, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Reporting: Prepare regular stock and inventory reports for management.
- Store Manager is responsible for ensuring the right materials are available in the right quantity, at the right time, and properly controlled from receipt to final issue.
- Experience: 5-10 years
- Education: bachelor of supply chain management
- Skills: store management, retail management, stock management, warehouse management, inventory management
