About EducateU

EducateU is a UK-based online learning provider, focused on delivering flexible, accessible, and high-quality education solutions for modern learners. We work closely with awarding bodies, universities, and industry partners to create scalable and innovative learning opportunities. We are still early in our journey, backed by an experienced group with a track record across education and other sectors.

The role

As Learning and Development Specialist, you will own the design, quality and ongoing improvement of the learning experience across our qualification and short course portfolio. You will build and refine course content, learning pathways and assessments, support the tutors who deliver them, and use learner performance data to keep raising standards. This is a broad role that spans content, delivery quality and learner outcomes rather than a single course or subject area. It suits someone who thinks like a learning designer as much as an educator: comfortable analysing what is and is not working, redesigning material accordingly, and coaching others on delivery. You will work across different subjects, levels and course types as our portfolio grows, and you will be confident supporting learners and tutors you will mostly never meet in person, in a fully distance learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing and continuously improving course content, learning materials, activities and assessments across the qualification and CPD portfolio.
  • Leading instructional design for new and refreshed courses, ensuring materials are engaging, accessible and well suited to adult distance learners.
  • Reviewing learner performance, feedback and engagement data to identify gaps and shape improvements to content and delivery.
  • Supporting and coaching tutors on delivery standards, feedback quality and consistent application of assessment criteria.
  • Marking or moderating assessed work against published criteria where required, and giving clear, developmental feedback.
  • Keeping accurate records of assessment and quality decisions for internal and external quality assurance.
  • Spotting learners who are falling behind and coordinating early, appropriate support.
  • Keeping subject knowledge and awareness of relevant UK law and regulation current, and updating course material whenever requirements change.
  • Working closely with awarding bodies such as OTHM and City and Guilds to ensure content and assessment remain compliant.
  • Contributing to live and recorded teaching sessions as needed, alongside the tutoring team.
  • Working with colleagues across the academic, quality assurance and content teams to keep the wider learner experience joined up.

Requirements

  • A master's degree or higher in a relevant subject, or in education, learning and development or instructional design
  • At least two years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, curriculum development or teaching, ideally within distance or online learning
  • Experience assessing or moderating learner work against set criteria and writing effective feedback
  • Current knowledge of UK law and regulation relevant to your subject area or sector
  • Strong verbal and written English, with the ability to write clear, engaging learning content
  • Confidence with online delivery platforms, virtual learning environments and content authoring tools
  • Experience delivering, assessing or developing content for a regulated awarding organisation.

Desirable

  • A recognised teaching or learning and development qualification (for example a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, a Higher Education Diploma in Education and Training, a CIPD learning and development qualification, or equivalent).
  • Experience designing or delivering learning for international learners
  • A good working knowledge of the UK higher education sector and how regulated qualifications are delivered and quality assured.
  • An assessor or internal quality assurance qualification.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and course authoring tools.
