Laboratory Technician

Company Description The Department of Fisheries at the University of Rajshahi is an academic and research-focused unit dedicated to advancing knowledge in fisheries science, aquaculture, and marine resources. Role Description The Laboratory Technician will support teaching and research activities by preparing, organizing, and maintaining laboratory equipment and materials for fisheries-related experiments. Responsibilities include setting up experiments, handling samples, conducting routine tests and measurements, and accurately recording and reporting data. The role involves monitoring laboratory conditions, following safety protocols, and assisting in quality control procedures to ensure reliable results. The Laboratory Technician will collaborate with faculty, researchers, and students, provide technical guidance on lab procedures, and help maintain inventory and proper storage of chemicals and supplies. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Cox’s Bazar.
Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong laboratory skills and practical experience working in scientific or technical laboratories.
• Candidates should be proficient in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment relevant to fisheries and biological research.
• Candidates should have demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to collect, interpret, and document experimental data.
• Candidates should be familiar with quality control procedures and standards to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
• Candidates should have experience or training as laboratory technicians, or in a closely related technical support role.
• Relevant academic qualification such as a diploma or bachelor’s degree in Fisheries, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety practices, chemical handling, and basic troubleshooting of equipment.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Basic computer skills for data entry, record keeping, and use of laboratory management software are beneficial.
