- Specimen Processing: Receive, label, and prepare patient samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for analysis according to standard operating procedures.
- Testing & Analysis: Perform routine clinical laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, immunology, microbiology, and blood banking.
- Equipment Operation: Operate, calibrate, and maintain complex laboratory equipment and automated analyzers (e.g., microscopes, cell counters).
- Data Management: Accurately record, report, and log test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) in a timely manner.
- Quality Control: Run quality control checks on equipment and reagents to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results. Identify and troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions.
- Compliance & Safety: Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, CLIA regulations, OSHA safety guidelines, and HIPAA confidentiality rules regarding handling biohazardous materials and patient data.
- Inventory Management: Monitor laboratory supply levels, restock inventory, and notify management when reagents or supplies need to be ordered.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff regarding test results, specimen requirements, or critical values.
- Experience: 1 year
- Education: diploma in medical laboratory technology
