Journalist (Investigative) | $10/hr Remote

Position: Web Research Specialist

Type: Short-Term Contractor Assignment (8 Weeks)

Compensation: $30 per approved task

Location: Remote

Commitment: Up to 40 hours per week with 4 hours overlap with PST

Role Responsibilities

• Design challenging web research problems for AI browsing agent evaluation.
• Create research questions with objectively verifiable answers and multi-step clues.
• Conduct deep research across primary records, databases, archives, registries, and PDF documents.
• Build detailed, auditable evidence trails with precise source citations.
• Validate research questions through documented searches and results.
• Develop benchmark tasks that test AI agents' ability to locate difficult information.

Requirements

• Strong years of experience in web research, investigative research, fact-checking, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate government databases, institutional records, archives, registries, and PDF documents.
• Experience in OSINT, investigative journalism, archival research, KYC, due diligence, legal discovery, genealogy, or competitive research is valuable.
• Experience with LLM evaluation, red-teaming, or benchmark construction.
• Native or near-native written English with strong sourcing and documentation skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to research unfamiliar subjects independently.
• Familiarity with JSON and structured data formats is preferred.
