Job Purpose
To supervise and coordinate the overall operations of the Operation Theatre, ensuring safe, efficient, and hygienic surgical services, particularly for orthopedic procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the OT and ensure smooth workflow.
- Coordinate with orthopedic surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, technicians, and other OT staff.
- Prepare and maintain the OT schedule according to planned surgeries.
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, implants, and consumables.
- Ensure strict compliance with infection prevention, sterilization, and OT safety protocols.
- Check OT readiness before every surgical procedure.
- Monitor proper preparation of patients before surgery and safe transfer after surgery.
- Maintain records of surgeries, instruments, implants, consumables, and OT activities.
- Coordinate instrument sterilization and ensure proper handling of sterile supplies.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate timely procurement of OT supplies.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of OT rooms.
- Supervise OT staff, assign duties, and monitor attendance and performance.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and safety standards.
- Handle emergency OT requirements and coordinate with relevant departments.
- Report equipment problems, incidents, shortages, and other operational issues to management.
- Participate in audits, quality improvement programs, and infection-control activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and ensure professional conduct among staff.
- Experience: 3-5 years
- Education: bachelor of science (b.sc.)
- Skills: operating room sales, operating room, operating room protocols, perioperative nursing, surgical nursing, medical staff supervision, daily operations management, surgical skills, outpatient orthopedics
