Role Description The GIS & Remote Sensing Trainer (Remote) will design and deliver online training sessions on GIS, remote sensing, and related geospatial applications for environmental and disaster management fields. This full-time remote role includes developing course content, training materials, and practical exercises using industry-standard GIS and remote sensing software. The trainer will facilitate live classes, supervise hands-on projects, provide feedback on assignments, and support learners through virtual mentoring and Q&A sessions. The role also involves updating curricula based on emerging technologies, contributing to research-informed teaching practices, and collaborating with AEE’s academic team to ensure courses meet global professional standards.
Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills, including spatial data analysis, problem-solving, and interpretation of geospatial information.
• Effective communication skills, including clear instructional delivery, academic writing, and learner support in an online environment.
• Proficiency in information management, particularly organizing, storing, and documenting geospatial datasets and training resources.
• Solid information technology skills, including use of GIS and remote sensing software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, ENVI), cloud-based learning platforms, and general digital tools.
• Awareness of cybersecurity principles relevant to handling digital course materials, learner data, and online platforms.
• Advanced knowledge and practical experience in GIS and remote sensing applied to environmental science, disaster risk reduction, or sustainable development.
• Experience delivering online or blended training, workshops, or university-level courses to diverse learner groups.
• Relevant academic background, such as a degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, or a closely related discipline; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple courses or cohorts, and meet academic timelines.
• Familiarity with global standards and best practices in environmental and sustainability education is highly beneficial.
