Nari Maitree (NM), a well-established women-led NGO with 43 years of experience in Bangladesh, dedicated to empowering women, children, and marginalized communities through human rights, gender equality, disaster resilience, and health initiatives. As a key consortium partner of IRC in the DFAT-funded program "Protection-Centred and Locally Driven Response for Rohingya Refugees in Cox’s Bazar," Nari Maitree leads on Gender Equality and Gender-Diverse Inclusion within the Consortium’s GEDSI (Gender Equality, Diversity, Disability and Social Inclusion) and Intersectionality Community of Practice, which it co-leads with the Centre for Disability in Development (CDD), the lead on Disability Inclusion. Nari Maitree also delivers GBV prevention and response activities, within the technical coherence of the Protection Community of Practice led by IRC.

Position Summary

Nari Maitree is seeking an experienced, highly qualified Gender Expert to provide strategic and technical leadership to ensure that gender equality, diversity, and social inclusion are systematically integrated into technical design, harmonization, and quality assurance initiatives across the seven Consortium organisations (IRC and the six Bangladeshi partners: Nari Maitree, BTS, CDD, FIVDB, CNRS and NGO Forum for Public Health). The Gender Expert will co-lead the consortium’s GEDSI and Intersectionality Community of Practice (CoP), leading technical approaches on gender equality and gender-diverse inclusion, and contributing gender and GBV technical expertise to the Protection CoP led by IRC. The position represents Nari Maitree in the Project Management Unit (PMU) as the Gender Advisor, ensuring gender-responsive and intersectional principles are embedded across all sector activities (Protection, Health, WASH, Education, Livelihoods). The post holder is Nari Maitree’s technical focal point for applying the IRC GEDI Marker at inception, annually and at project end, as set out in the Consortium GEDSI Strategy. GEDSI is applied as an intersectional mandate spanning gender, disability, age, diversity and other dimensions of exclusion, and is not limited to gender and SOGIESC. Within that mandate the Gender Expert leads on gender equality and gender-diverse inclusion and works jointly with CDD, which leads on disability inclusion.
