Company Description Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Ltd is a 50:50 joint venture between NTPC and the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), developing the Maitree Super Thermal Power Project (2x660 MW) in Bagerhat District, Khulna Division, Bangladesh. The project site is strategically located near Khulna City and Mongla Port, and is designed to supply 100% of its generated power to BPDB. Power evacuation is planned through 400 kV and 220 kV double circuit transmission lines connecting to the Dhaka ring main and Khulna substation. The main plant EPC package is financed by Indian EXIM Bank, with 915.5 acres of land owned by BPDB under a land lease agreement in process. The project uses saline water from the Pussur River for cooling and employs desalination via Reverse Osmosis to produce sweet water for plant operations and potable use.
Role Description The DGM Chemistry role is a full-time, on-site position based at Maitree Super Thermal Power Project in Bagerhat Sadar Upazila. This role oversees all chemistry-related activities for the power plant, including water treatment, boiler and cooling system chemistry, and environmental compliance. Daily responsibilities include planning and supervising laboratory testing, ensuring accurate chemical analysis of process and cooling water, and optimizing treatment regimes to protect plant equipment and maintain efficiency. The role also involves managing the chemistry team, reviewing technical reports, coordinating with operations and maintenance departments, and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The DGM Chemistry contributes to continuous improvement in chemistry practices, supports R&D initiatives, and provides technical guidance on complex chemistry issues affecting plant performance.
Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong domain knowledge in Chemistry, preferably with experience in power plant or industrial water chemistry.
• Candidates should possess robust Analytical Skills and Laboratory Skills for accurate testing, data interpretation, and equipment handling.
• Candidates should possess experience in Research and Development (R&D), including method development and process optimization in applied chemistry.
• Candidates should possess effective Communication skills for reporting, documentation, cross-functional coordination, and team leadership.
• Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering; advanced certifications in water treatment or power plant chemistry are advantageous.
• Proven experience in managing chemistry operations in large thermal power or similar industrial facilities, including knowledge of desalination, DM water systems, and environmental regulations.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, with a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work on-site in Bagerhat Sadar Upazila and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
