Job Description
- Administer all production database platforms end to end (installation, patching, upgrades, housekeeping) with 24x7 on call support on a scheduled rotation, sustaining at least 99.99 percent uptime for core financial systems.
- Engineer and operate high availability architectures: GaussDB cluster replication and switchover, PostgreSQL streaming replication with Patroni, connection pooling and failover.
- Own backup, restore and disaster readiness: enterprise backup appliance operations, immutable copies, scheduled restore drills proving RTO and RPO with evidence.
- Enforce database security and access discipline: least privilege with SoD, access approval workflows, quarterly reviews, PII encryption and masking, complete audit logging to SIEM.
- Tune performance continuously (SQL optimization, indexing, partitioning) and plan capacity ahead of national scale transaction peaks.
- Support releases through change management with rollback plans, and maintain audit ready documentation and runbooks for Bangladesh Bank inspection.
- Professional certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), HCIP GaussDB, PostgreSQL or cloud database specialty, and ITIL Foundation will be highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supporting mission critical databases in a 24x7 operational rotation.
- Production grade PostgreSQL: Patroni (switchover, VIP failover), Pgpool/PgBouncer, sync and async streaming replication, role and grant design, pgAudit and encrypted backup pipelines.
- Enterprise backup and DR tooling: Resilient backup appliances, weekly full/daily incremental/hourly log regimes, restore drills with documented evidence.
- Excellent SQL craftsmanship: complex query analysis, execution plans, stored procedure troubleshooting, with Bash or Python automation.
- Deep understanding of ACID guarantees, locking and concurrency control as they apply to financial ledgers, and of production data immutability rules (no destructive operations).
- Security and compliance discipline: DARF style access approval with SoD, PAM/MFA for privileged access, DDL/DML/DCL audit logging to SIEM, PII encryption and masking.
- Linux platform literacy (SUSE/Oracle Linux hardening, LVM, rsyslog) and basic Kubernetes awareness, plus SFTP/ETL and reporting pipeline support.
- Audit evidence production mapped to the Bangladesh Bank Guideline on ICT Security, PCI DSS and 12 year retention obligations.
- Maintain Incident management, change management and regular operational process
