Job Description
POSITION DETAILS
We are seeking a dynamic and outgoing professional to execute our Political & Civic Affairs portfolio. This role focuses on producing compelling, people-centric stories that explore governance, public policy, civic awareness, and the voices of communities across Bangladesh.
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: BDT 25,000 - 35,000 per month
Location: Banani, Road 11, Dhaka
Holidays: Every Friday + 2nd & 4th Saturday of each month
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Reporting & Public Engagement
- Travel across Bangladesh to cover stories, events, and public issues.
- Conduct first-hand interviews with citizens, policymakers, experts, diplomats, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
- Engage confidently with individuals from rural communities, urban centres, corporate environments, and high-level institutions.
- Build trust quickly with interviewees from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
- Represent The Prestige Magazine professionally during field assignments.
Political & Civic Affairs Coverage
- Identify stories related to governance, democracy, elections, public policy, civic awareness, youth engagement, social development, and community issues.
- Produce balanced, accurate, and engaging public affairs content.
- Stay informed about national affairs, policy developments, and current events.
- Develop story ideas that encourage informed public discourse while maintaining editorial integrity.
On-Camera Presentation
- Confidently host interviews and appear on camera for digital content.
- Present naturally while maintaining professionalism.
- Adapt interview tone and questioning style according to the interviewee and situation.
- Work closely with the videography team during shoots while independently leading interviews and conversations.
Research & Editorial
- Conduct background research before interviews.
- Verify facts using credible sources.
- Monitor political developments, civic issues, and emerging public conversations.
- Contribute ideas for editorial campaigns and special projects.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Candidates from any educational background are encouraged to apply.
- Academic qualifications may include club engagements than communication ability, curiosity, confidence, and the willingness to engage with people.
Essential Skills
- Outstanding spoken and written communication skills in both English and Bangla.
- Naturally extroverted with exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable approaching and speaking with strangers.
- Ability to connect equally well with rural communities, students, professionals, policymakers, diplomats, business leaders, and members of high society.
- Strong interviewing and active listening skills.
- Excellent public speaking ability.
- Comfortable appearing on camera.
- Confidence in asking spontaneous follow-up questions.
- Strong editorial judgement and curiosity about politics, governance, and society.
- Ability to travel frequently throughout Bangladesh.
- Professional, presentable, and adaptable in diverse environments.
Preferred
- Experience in journalism, media, presenting, debate, anchoring, theatre, public speaking, or digital content creation is an advantage but not required.
- Experience creating interview-based social media content is a plus.
