About The Role
Q HOTEL Dhaka is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Commis Chefs to support the culinary team in food preparation, cooking and kitchen operations. This is an excellent opportunity for junior culinary professionals to develop practical skills while maintaining the high standards of food quality, hygiene and cleanliness expected in a five-star hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chef de Partie and Demi Chef de Partie with daily kitchen operations.
- Carry out basic food preparation and mise en place according to assigned duties.
- Wash, peel, cut, chop and prepare vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood and other ingredients as instructed.
- Assist with preparing sauces, stocks, garnishes, salads and other food items.
- Follow approved recipes and instructions from senior chefs.
- Assist in cooking food according to established hotel standards.
- Ensure food is prepared with the correct quality, portion size and presentation.
- Prepare ingredients and mise en place before each service period.
- Assist with à la carte, buffet, banquet and room service food production.
- Ensure food orders are prepared and delivered to the appropriate section promptly.
- Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
- Store food products correctly and follow proper labeling and dating procedures.
- Follow FIFO principles to minimize food spoilage and wastage.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the assigned workstation.
- Clean and sanitize work surfaces, utensils, equipment and kitchen areas regularly.
- Assist with kitchen opening, closing and cleaning procedures.
- Handle kitchen equipment safely and according to operating procedures.
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Chef de Partie.
- Assist with daily food requisitions, stock checks and receiving of food items when required.
- Maintain proper food handling and storage procedures.
- Follow HACCP, food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards at all times.
- Prevent cross-contamination by following correct food preparation procedures.
- Assist with monitoring food temperatures where required.
- Follow instructions regarding special dietary requirements and food allergies.
- Maintain excellent personal hygiene and professional grooming standards.
- Attend daily kitchen briefings, training sessions and departmental meetings.
- Learn and develop culinary techniques under the supervision of senior chefs.
- Work cooperatively with all members of the culinary and F&B teams.
- Experience: 1-5 years
- Education: diploma in culinary arts
- Skills: culinary skills, kitchen operations, food & beverage management, kitchen management, hospitalitymanagement
