- Conduct daily physical, chemical, and instrumental tests related to paint and coating processes.
- Perform batch testing for viscosity, color accuracy (spectrophotometry), gloss, solids content, and adhesion.
- Carry out durability tests such as cross-hatch adhesion, pencil hardness, impact resistance, UV resistance, corrosion resistance, and wear testing.
- Monitor and control process parameters in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BSTI, and BDS EN 197-1:2010.
- Support production by troubleshooting coating application issues such as orange peel, uneven coating, thinning, drying defects, or curing problems.
- Monitor and optimize curing conditions, including oven temperature, cycle time, and dwell time to ensure proper chemical cross-linking.
- Assist in formulation development and modification of paints/coatings to improve quality, performance, or cost efficiency.
- Support scale-up of laboratory formulations to production-level batches in coordination with manufacturing teams.
- Perform quality control checks on incoming raw materials (pigments, resins, solvents) and finished products.
- Maintain laboratory records, test reports, and documentation following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Ensure proper handling of chemicals, maintain SDS/MSDS, and ensure compliance with VOC and hazardous waste disposal regulations.
- Evaluate alternative raw materials or suppliers to improve performance, sustainability, or compliance.
- Collaborate with Production, QA, and R&D teams for continuous improvement and new product introduction.
- Experience: 2-5 years
- Education: bachelor of science in chemical engineering
- Skills: chemical testing, quality control procedures, knowledge of quality control, coatings, laboratory procedures, quality control, production processes, laboratory techniques & procedures, chemical handling
