Job Description
The Executive – Taxation will manage day-to-day tax operations, direct/indirect tax compliance, and regulatory reporting for our e-commerce platform. This role ensures total compliance with the Income Tax Act 2023, the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act 2012, and associated rules, SROs, and circulars issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

- Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) & Withholding Management.
- Compute TDS on vendor bills, merchant payouts, logistical payments, software/IT services, office rent, and professional fees following the Income Tax Act 2023.
- Manage withholding tax requirements for marketplace seller commissions, payment gateway fees, and ride-sharing/logistics services.
- Prepare and submit monthly Withholding Tax Returns (Section 177) via the NBR e-filing system within the statutory deadlines.
- Generate and issue Treasury Challans / A-Challans and TDS certificates to merchants and service providers.
- Value Added Tax (VAT) & VAT Deduction at Source (VDS).
- Calculate VDS on incoming invoices, logistics costs, digital marketing expenses, and platform fees under VDS rules.
- Determine VAT applicability on marketplace seller commissions, fulfillment fees, and delivery charges.
- Prepare and file the monthly VAT Return (Form Mushak 9.1) on the NBR e-VAT portal.
- Oversee Mushak registers—including Mushak 6.3 (VAT Invoices), Mushak 6.6 (VDS Certificates), Mushak 6.1 (Purchase Register), and Mushak 6.2 (Sales Register).
- Coordinate Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims on eligible business expenses to optimize tax outflow.
- Corporate Income Tax (CIT) Provision & Annual Compliance
- Assist the finance team with quarterly and annual Corporate Income Tax (CIT) provisions, assessing deferred and current tax liabilities.
- Maintain reconciliation schedules between accounting profit and taxable income for CIT compliance.
- Help compute Advance Income Tax (AIT) under Sections 154/155, and track AIT deducted at source through payment gateways and bank channels.
- Support the senior finance team in preparing files for annual corporate income tax returns and tax assessment audits.
- E-Commerce Platform Tax Reconciliation
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of gross platform sales, merchant payouts, delivery charges, payment gateway fees, and collected VAT/TDS/VDS.
- Coordinate with product and engineering teams to ensure checkout tax engines accurately calculate customer-facing VAT and platform fees.
- Bachelors/Master's degree in Accounting, Finance from any reputed university, or CA Partly Qualified (CA CC) / CMA Operational Level.
- Minimum 4-5 years in tax operations (preferably in e-commerce, retail, tech platforms, or audit firms).
- Hands-on knowledge of Bangladesh Income Tax Act 2023 and VAT & SD Act 2012.
- Proficiency with NBR e-VAT & e-TDS portals, MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), and ERP tools.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Good communication & Stakeholder Management skills,
