Assistant Manager (VAT)

Role Description The Assistant Manager (VAT) is a full-time, on-site position based at GSEL’s operations in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This role is responsible for overseeing VAT-related activities, including preparing and reviewing VAT computations, returns, and documentation in compliance with local regulations. The Assistant Manager (VAT) will monitor VAT transactions, maintain accurate records, and coordinate with internal departments to ensure correct tax treatment of sales, purchases, and inventory. The role involves liaising with tax authorities, supporting audits, resolving VAT queries, and recommending process improvements to optimize compliance and minimize risk. The individual will also assist in training team members on VAT requirements and contribute to the development of tax policies and procedures.
Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of VAT laws and regulations in Bangladesh, including experience with VAT computation, return filing, and tax documentation.
• Proficiency in accounting and finance principles, with the ability to analyze transactions, reconcile accounts, and maintain accurate tax records.
• Experience using ERP or accounting software for tax and financial reporting, along with solid MS Excel skills.
• Ability to interpret regulatory guidelines, prepare reports for management, and communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and tax authorities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; professional tax or accounting certifications are an advantage.
• Prior experience in VAT or indirect tax roles, preferably within manufacturing or industrial sectors.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, on-site environment.
