Assistant Manager/ Senior Engineer - Production (Gum Tape) _ Akij Biax Films Ltd.

Role Description: The Assistant Manager/Senior Engineer – Production (Gum Tape) at Akij Biax Films Ltd., will oversee and manage offline coating operations, ensuring consistent quality and efficiency in gum tape production. This full-time, on-site role in the Factory, Raimoni, Trishal, includes planning and monitoring production schedules, supervising coating line operators and maintaining adherence to safety and quality standards. The role involves troubleshooting technical issues on the coating line, optimizing machine parameters and collaborating with maintenance, quality assurance and production teams to reduce downtime and wastage. The individual will also support process improvement initiatives, maintain documentation and reports and ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor coating machines (Solvent-based/ Water-based)
• Set machine parameters such as temperature, tension, speed, coating thickness and curing conditions
• Ensure coating quality as per specification (GSM, adhesion, COF, surface properties)
• Troubleshoot process-related issues
• Conduct trial runs for new products, raw materials or process improvements
• Monitor and reduce wastage, defects and downtime
• Coordinate with production, maintenance, quality and R&D teams
• Maintain production reports and process records
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards

Education:

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemical Technical/Engineering, Chemistry
• Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Polymer Science will be considered an added advantage

Experience:

• At least 5 years
• The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Flexible Printing Packaging, Plastic/ Polymer Industry

Additional Requirements:

• Age at least 30 years
• Knowledge of coating chemistry and raw materials (resins, solvents, additives, silica, etc.)
• Understanding of web handling, tension control, drying systems and curing ovens
• Sound knowledge of color Chemistry/matching
• Prior experience in flexible printing packaging and lamination packaging industries is highly preferred.
