Job Description

Purpose of the Role

We seek proactive and seasoned professionals for the position of Assistant Manager (Customs & Compliance) to strengthen our Commercial Department. The ideal candidates must possess solid expertise in BGMEA operations, Customs and Bond procedures, import-export documentation, and effective liaison with relevant government authorities. They will play a vital role in overseeing commercial functions, ensuring full regulatory compliance, and supporting seamless customs and compliance operations.

Internal & External Coordination

Internal: All departments-Commercial (Export/Import), Factory Warehouse, Finance & Accounts, Merchandising, and other relevant sections.

External: Banks, Customs House, BGMEA, C&F Agents, Government offices, and other external stakeholders.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage all BGMEA-related activities, including formalities, approvals, declarations, and coordination with BGMEA officials.

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of BGMEA rules, Customs-Bond operations, import-export policies, and government compliance requirements.

  • Possess strong expertise in Customs Bond Office tasks, including bond license renewal, audit preparation, UD preparation, and associated documentation.

  • Ensure complete adherence to government rules and regulations governing bonded warehouse licence operations.

  • Maintain effective communication and liaison with regulatory agencies.

  • Exhibit proficiency in documentation, reporting, and record management.

  • Work independently to resolve operational challenges as they arise.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor or management.

Requirements

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce or Banking or Finance, or a related discipline.

Experience Required:

  • At least 10 years

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must have relevant experience in the woven garments manufacturing industry.

  • Goal orientation; effective communication and collaboration; ability to lead teams; positivity and proactiveness; strong planning and organisational skills; and the capability to coordinate and support a team effectively.

  • Strong knowledge of government rules and regulations relating to import and export.

  • In-depth understanding of customs rules, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, ERP systems, HS Codes, the Customs Act, bond procedures, and relevant banking rules.
