Area Head - Medium Business, SME Banking

The bank is seeking a qualified and purpose-driven professional for the following position within its SME Banking Division:

Job Grade: VP-SVP

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Relationship Management:

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key Medium Enterprise clients, understanding their financial needs and ensuring the delivery of customized banking solutions
• Act as a strategic advisor to clients, providing insights and recommendations to support their business objectives.

Business Development:

• Drive business development initiatives to expand the medium business portfolio within the designated area
• Collaborate with relationship managers to identify and pursue new business opportunities, including cross-selling and upselling transaction banking services

Operational Excellence:

• Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies
• Collaborate with internal units to address operational challenges and implement process improvements.

Risk Management:

• Monitor and manage risks associated with Medium Business activities, implementing measures to mitigate fraud and operational risks
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk management protocols.

Financial Performance:

• Develop and execute financial strategies to achieve asset, liability, revenue and profitability targets for the Medium Business segment within the designated area.
• Monitor key performance indicators and implement corrective actions as needed
• Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of Medium Business operations.

Compliance:

• Adhere to the bank’s policies, laws, regulations and obligations, demonstrating appropriate risk assessment in relation to the bank’s reputation and image.
• Ensure fair, ethical and compliant business practices, maintain transparency and implement corrective measures where necessary.

Managerial Responsibility:

• Manage the performance of team members and provide counselling and coaching from time to time to improve their performance.
• Ensure team engagement and retention.

BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCY:

• Expert in understanding revenue streams, operating expenses, payment, and transaction patterns to gauge the first level credit worthiness of the customer
• Expert in understanding the Bank's products & services being offered to SME Medium Business customers.
• Expert in forming sustainable business relationships and create powerful networks with internal stakeholders and / or external customers to deliver business results.
• Expert about market trends, economic conditions, local and global policy, and competitor’s moves.
• Digital Readiness – Expert in working on MS Office & Android / Apple Platforms.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• A bachelor’s degree preferably in Business from a university recognized by UGC. An MBA in Finance, Marketing, or Management will be considered an added advantage.
• At least 15 years of experience in banks/FIs with at least 10 years of experience in Medium Business or corporate banking.
• Should be able to formulate and implement effective business plans, direct team resources to achieve targets and identify potential business opportunities for portfolio growth.
• Knowledge of credit norms, products, industry insights, and Medium Business models is necessary.
• Should have track records of completing working capital and term financing deals with mid size corporate accounts.
• Should have the capability to attract, manage and coach staff and ensure a high-performing team.
• Should be conversant with regulatory guidelines/policies and laws and practices for lending and recovery.
